Captain Cholo’s Fishing Village Tour
Cost: $75 per person
Group Size: Minimum 2 people, private
Location: Kizimikazi Village (Southern Coast)
Note: Transport from anywhere on the island can be arranged
Kizimikazi, our sleepy south-coast fishing village is active in the morning as fishermen head out with their spears and nets, and seaweed farmers take advantage of low tide. This is also the site of the infamous “Dolphin Tours” where many operators have a reputation for chasing pods of dolphins so clients can get a look. Simba & Spice has chosen to focus our beautiful ocean as the highlight of this tour, and those who travel with us understand that if they see dolphins on their journey, it will be a wonderful bonus.
Spend your morning on the ocean with Captain Cholo, observing traditional fishing methods and snorkelling along the coral reef. Your guide will have snacks on the boat. In the late morning head to shore and walk through our village to a local home for a freshly prepared outdoor lunch. Cool off in the late afternoon with a swim and then then return to Stone Town. Better yet, stay in a local beachside lodge or village homestay and enjoy a Swahili cooking lesson the next day.
